Eda Gecikmez graduated from the Painting Department of Mimar Sinan Fine Arts University in 2010. During her undergraduate education, she studied at San Carlos Faculty of Fine Arts, Valencia Polytechnic University in Spain dor a one year. In 2015, she participated in artist residency programs at Cittadellarte – Fondazione Pistoletto, Biella, Italy; Kultivera, Tranås, Sweden; and in 2023 at ISCP, New York, USA. In 2016-2017, she completed the Home Workspace Art Education Program organized by Ashkal Alwan, the Plastic Arts Association in Beirut, Lebanon. In 2019, she received her Master's degree in Art and Design from the Institute of Social Sciences at Yıldız Technical University. The subject of Eda Gecikmez's current interests are gender, identity and urban politics related to the concepts of body and space. She associates social and political transformations with the history of art and focuses daily on the perspective of past and possible future imaginations. Most recently, in 2024, Gecikmez graduated from the Proficiency in Art Program in the Painting Department of Hacettepe University’s Fine Arts Institute and is represented by Galeri Nev. The artist lives and works in Istanbul and Ankara.
